According to the installation instructions only "OpenCV release version 1.0" is supported on Windows.  I've certainly got it working with that version on Windows 7 64bit.  Perhaps they need to update their documentation, but from what I've understood OpenCV 2.2 is not yet supported by the Processing library - which is obviously a shame :/

i know right? its a shame because that would be so useful, i hope they work on it.
THing is, if you press the link to get teh 1.0 version, you end up on SourceForge on a directory without any versions at all. I mean, just a few tutorials and stuff. And theres a link "do you want the latest version? 2.2" and nothing about 1.0

an update to make the processing library working with 2.2 would be really useful. there are a lot of new features

Done, its working, Just installed 1.0 and ran an example and it all works.

there's a pre-released opencv2.0 for processing ,but not with 2.2 i think

Maybe there will be some more updates and examples in the future. Its probably hard to use without any reference

I've been trying to make opencv working for one week on ubuntu 10.10...
I've searched and read so many websites without a good solution.

Above all I'm not used in working with a terminal in Linux...

so my first question is : is opencv 1 or opencv 2  required in ubuntu too in order to use it in processing ?
where can I find and install it easily.

I understand that the main problem is a path problem; how can I tell processing to search for opencv library on the hard
drive ?

THere should be a easier way to install all these libraries, I read so many problems that are all the same ones.
I hope it will be easier in the future.

This is what I did to get OpenCV 2 running through processing on Ubuntu 10.04

- Installed processing (in /opt/processing-1.2.1/)

- Installed the OpenCV prebuilt for Ubuntu (2.0.0-3Ubuntu2)  using synaptic package manager. (search for "opencv", mark for install libcv4,libhighgui4,libcvaux4,libcv-dev,libcvaux-dev,libhighgui-dev)

- Installed the OpenCV processing library, from http://ubaa.net/shared/processing/opencv/download/opencv_examples.zip. (downloaded opencv_01.zip ,extracted OpenCV from that and moved it to /opt/processing-1.2.1/libraries/OpenCV)

- Ran this sample sketch

- Got this error:
...required library not found ... libcxcore.so.1....
did a search on /usr/lib (ls -l /usr/lib/libcx*.*), and found
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      18 2010-07-18 07:35 libcxcore.so -> libcxcore.so.4.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      18 2010-07-18 07:35 libcxcore.so.4 -> libcxcore.so.4.0.0
So it looked like I had libcxcore.so.4.0.0, when the processing lib was looking for libcxcore.so.1

- Created the foll. symlinks, in /usr/lib , to point the code looking for libcxcore.so.1 to libcxcore.so (and eventually to what i had, i.e. libcxcore.so.4.0.0)
ln -s libcxcore.so libcxcore.so.1
created more soft symlinks or the rest of the libraries OpenCV was complaining about.
ln -s libcv.so libcv.so.1
ln -s libhighgui.so libhighgui.so.1
ln -s libcvaux.so libcvaux.so.1
ln -s libml.so libml.so.1
Note: might have to sudo before you run these commands

Was then able to display the webcam stream through processing. (Finally, some success after hours of frustration!!!)

- Upgraded to use the OpenCV 2.0 processing library. downloaded linux_dep_notbb-m32.zip from http://ubaa.net/shared/processing/opencv/download/2.0/pre-released/.
Unzipped that and it had libOpenCV.so and OpenCV.jar, which where moved that to /opt/processing-1.2.1/libraries/OpenCV/library, to replace the old ones from the OpenCV 1. The same sample sketch worked for this library too.
