Hi all !

i am a processing fan, and now that i have a launchpad i want do use it and build an interface for ableton with processing!

i saw there is a library for this

and it seems to be pretty working on windows , as long as i don't press any button on the launchpad, then i get an exception from the main java thread of the library in processing, and all stops working!

i'm going to write a custom-made library to fit my needs (don't know if based on rwmidi or promidi or start from scratch, any suggestions ? ), but befor reinventing the wheel i wanted to know if someone is still using succesfully this library, or has made something similar!

ok noone's interested :D i think i'll go with promidi and see what happens!

Well maybe if you post your exception stacktrace we could provide more information.
However that won't be easy to help as most of us don't have the required hardware.
Try email the library author. Seems that this library was tested on OS X under processing 1.0.9 api.

I think the error he is getting is this:

AbstractMethodError: com.rngtng.launchpad.Launcpad.midiMessage(Ljavax/sound/midi/MidiMessage;J)V

I am also getting the same one, when trying to run any of the example code.

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be most appreciated!

Looks like two jars, or at least two distinct sets of classes have been mixed. A class tries to use a method from an abstract class, but doesn't have a concrete implementation. Which cannot happen with a consistently compiled application.

Mmm, looks like I am right, see AbstractMethodError definition.

I got the same Problem under Win7.

I looked inside the Launchpad Library and the MidiBusLibrary. I think the Problem has something to do with the changed MidiBus Interface StandardMidiListener and the only method.

public void midiMessage(MidiMessage message, long timeStamp);

In the Launchpad library the Method is implemented without the argument timeStamp.

Edit:

I changed and recompiled the library and it makes the deal. I contacted the original developer to change it in his Library. If he doesn't reply I'll upload my Library and share it with you.
