I like programming because you are faced with a complex problem, that can be broken down into many simple managable problems. So, go through the basic learning tutorials on processing.org.  Figure out something that you want to try and make happen, and then step by step, using the documentation you can find online and help in forums, figure out how to solve that problem piece by piece.

Also, look at sketch examples, go through them, figure out what they are doing, and then start playing around with the sketch to see what kind of changes you can make....or....get a book...which ever way you learn best.
