need help with android mode and android sdk

i cant run processing in the android mode i have downloaded the sdk and i installed every thing possible i checked every dox and when i open processing and i select the sdk folder it still dose not work i want to make apps before i die so can i get help?

1st, quit being so aggressive. It's offputting and doesn't make anyone want to help you. Like Ben said in a recent talk,

It might be a bit like driving a sports car but with the hood removed and one of the tires might occasionally blow out. We recommend using these releases if you're not going to whine about quirks and having to update code along the way (we just gave you a goddamned sports car, for chrissake).

2nd, can you explain your situation a bit more? OS ? SDK Version ? Processing Version ?

3rd, what exactly is not working? Processing is not accepting the SDK location? What are the error messages?

4th, try using periods and or commas. It will help you write cleaner code

I'm having similar issues.. I don't know where to direct Processing when it asks for the SDK location. I point it to the downloaded folder and sub folders, but it doesn't accept it. I get "The selected folder does not appear to contain an Android SDK, or the SDK needs to be updated to the latest version."

I've got the latest version and I've followed the Wiki for downloading the additional packages, but it still can't find it.

The android sdk folder I downloaded looks like this...

add-ons
platform-tools
platforms
temp
tools

Am I suppose to install a virtual device? I have no physical Android phone - trying to add support for a library.

It's been a while since I installed, so it's hard to answer...

I have my Mac and Win partitions with the SDk installed, and they look like this:

OSX

add-ons

docs

extras

platform-tools

platforms

samples

SDK Readme.txt

Win7 ( I have two, think this is the one I use)

add-ons

google-usb_driver

platforms

SDK Manager.exe

SDK Readme.txt

tools

Let me see if I can move the SDK and make Processing ask me to relocate it.. brb

EDIT:

yeah, I just moved it, relocated it fine, then moved it back, relocated it again, no issues...

The Virtual device should be installed, but if it's not called "Processing-Android-7" then you can try to rename it to that...

Just to be sure, you have ran /tools/android to launch the SDK manager and downloaded all the various updates ?

Ok.. got it working.. I had two folders and I don't think I was pointing it to the correct one. Thanks for the insight.

Well, I sort of got it working.. It runs, fires up the Droid emulator, but I see no sketch and I see no icon to run a sketch. What am I looking for?

You see the home screen of the emulator ?

Try running one of the Android example sketches ?

Yes, I see the emulator. If I run the sketch, it launches the emulator but no sketch and no icon or indication of how to run the sketch. It's just the emulator.

If I stop the sketch and leave the emulator running and rerun the sketch, I get an error "An error occurred while running "android create avd", which gives this error " Error: Android Virtual Device 'Processing-0196' already exists. Use --force if you want to replace it."

So I close the emulator, delete the AVD. Back to square one.. start the sketch.. starts the emulator... nothing...

I tried the latest build of 2.01a as well - same thing. Using the default examples in Processing.. choosing them at random.

um... have you tried renaming the AVD to "Processing-Android-7" ???

Yes, I have an AVD named that, which I created myself, using Android 2.1-update1 API 7.
The AVD entries that Processing is creating is Processing-0196 and Processing-200, depending on the version. They both use the Google API 2.1-update1 API 7.

Processing says "Sketch launched on the emulator", but I don't see anything but the home screen.

Same here - on OS X Lion, taking the PieChart as an example, no errors in the Android Processing window, emulator has launched and has all the proper icons etc but what next? no sign of the PieChart Sketch - thought I was going mad...

i am not trying to be aggressive i was joking but i am on a windows i am running Processing 1.5.1 and i will try to rename the SDK to Processing-Android-7 the problem is P rocessing is not accepting the SDK location

do i need processing with java?

dont quit tying i got it working i just downloaded every thing and made sure that the real3D add on is installed and running that will render every thing to your phone
