Need help getting information from the web

Hello I am new to processing

what is the best way to retrieve information from the web so that I can output it serially to another device?

I know this is a vague question but I just need to know where to start. The data I want to output is text.

any help will be appreciated.

have a look at the reference > input > files

loadStrings() might do the job.
