Installation and interactive art is probably the hottest thing in most modern art galleries.  Exhibiting a piece or two in a show shouldn't be too difficult for you.  I have a installation that uses real-time physiological data to generate music that was on display in a show for a month at a large gallery in Orlando.  It way my first time doing anything like that in an art gallery.  I work in simulation and most of us don't get outside of our comfort zones (i.e. conferences, expos, lab demos, etc.), but I highly recommend the experience.

I have contacted one local contemporary gallery, but haven't heard from them. I have no idea if I followed proper protocol, etc... I guess navigating through the world of galleries/etc... is very foreign to me.  Likewise, I have not participated in conferences etc...  Not aware of opportunities, process, etc...
