I used a lot of follow through on a project and actually had it 3d printed via
Shapeways. The core code is quite simple, but it took a lot of refinement to get nice clean models. I used Java's built in Area type with its CAG boolean operations to get various polygons. Poly2Tri for general triangulation and my own code for tri or quad strips was used to get valid Hemesh meshes via HEC_FromFaceList. I tried various Hemesh modifiers, HEM_Wireframe for example.
The Shapeways prints turned out so well I even decided to put one variation up for sale. If anyone orders it I can easily produce a unique model from my system and upload as part of a series using the Shapeways co-creator system. http://www.shapeways.com/model/844750/gw01a.html
I'd be interested to see more code-generated products on Shapeways that aren't purely mathematical. Anyway, thanks for checking mine out.
