multiview of 3d object i.e. front, back, side

Hi I was wondering if its possible to use multiple cameras say 4 to show 4 sides of a 3d object on a scene by this i mean say i have a cube and i want to show its front face, back face , and right and left faces? If so how would one go about doing this?

I toyed with this idea.

One Idea is the use the createGraphics method, but I would have to manipulate each individually.

One would have to create an algorithm that parses the rotation commands and send then tell each image rotate accordingly.

It's certainly easy to have a single camera and rotate your cube to see all sides with something like the PeasyCam library.

Otherwise, I'd guess you'd be talking about taking different camera viewpoints, dumping the pixels to an array, then redisplaying them in some quadrant fashion. Or some form of split screen like when doing stereovision.

Well yes thats simple enough but what i really want to do is have a single object say a spinning cube, i want one camera to look at the cube from the front, the other from the right side and the third from the left side and render those views i'm not really interested in the main perspective view as much as i am interested in displaying these specific views.

I just came across this http://processing.org/discourse/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1206377714/1#1 but it doesn't seem to have gotten far.

Maybe this is the answer http://www.java-tips.org/other-api-tips/jogl/multiple-viewports-nehe-tutorial-jogl-port.html it seems to be using NeHe opengl library. Being new to java lets see how this goes.

Okay so i got it to work some what using the code above had to do a few changes but the key thing here is that since you render the object in each viewport JAVA tends to get bogged down so i think this implementation is only good for a few simple primitives nothing too complex i tried loading in a collada and the system slowed down a lot i was getting framerates of about 5~6fps if someone can help me improve that it would be awesome
