Multiple marker recognition in a sequence

Hi all,
How can I assign a particular area to a tobj.getSymbolID() to perform Mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, etc... ?
What Im trying to say here is how to read fiducials in a sequence ex. 9 - 2 (variable 1 , operator, variable 2) and note 2-9 as it will return a negative value.
