mouse click inside an Pshape object?

Hi all,

I am trying to move a loaded svg ( using Pshape ) by allowing the user to click on it and drag it around. is there any way to know whether the mouse has been clicked on/inside the drawn shape. the shapes may not be regular geometric figures and there are multiple shapes on the screen so i need to know which one has been clicked on.

I think the Geomerative library knows how to handle this.
Otherwise, the classical way is to draw the shape in black on white on an off-screen PGraphics, then map the mouse click to the bounds of the shape: if it happens on a black pixel, the click is on the shape.

I can't remember where and the exact specifics but i saw some code on one way of doing what you're asking and the solution was to use javas built in Polygon class and use the contains(x,y) method to check if the object is being pressed. I haven't had to do something like this before so i don't really know to much about this but maybe someone else can elaborate on how you use the polygon class.

@ phi.lho i am looking into the geomerative library to see whether it can do what i want.the other method you suggested is nice an i could

try to define rectangular zones for each shape and then see whether the click is inside the zone. but might be a probem if the shapes are

placed closely

@bjordal i have searched for the polygon class you mentioned and i found it in processing hacks to check whether the click is contained but

i am not sure whether it will work with an svg. i can try to extend the class and see whether some of the objects in the class could be used for

this.

ill keep trying out all of them and let you people know. meanwhile i would love more suggestions.
