It might be that the iTunes song files are DRM protected.  I'd try to convert them to MP3.

It's more likely that the songs are AAC or M4A, which is Apple's compressed format and may not be readable by JavaSound. But it might also be DRM as jeff_g suggests. MP3 should definitely work, as should WAV or AIFF.
