Minim-library: "importing" system sound (like what iTunes is playing, ...) for an equalizer

I've been working on some kind of equalizer for a school project for quite a while now and I'm fairly satisfied how it is working, the only problem is that it should be used for a (school)party, but even if I managed to get all .mp3 of a certain directory displayed and so on and so on, I doubt whether the DJ would use my programm instead of his. So I wondered whether it is possible for the minim-library to somehow get the data of the computer (like what iTunes is playing (and yeah I know DJs do not use iTunes...;) so it can get the basses, etc)
Just to make sure: I do not want anybody to write the code for me, just wondering whether it is possible (because of the sandboxmode...?) and if so I would greatly appreciate a hint on how to do so.
Thx in advance
Peter
PS.: I'm not very familiar with all this sound stuff, so I didn't even know what to look for, so pls don't be angry if the topic already exists ;)
