Minim.JS failing on Chrome and Firefox

Hi, guys,

I'm trying to use minim.js like is suggested on Pomax's
examples and tutorials. But, despite being successful on
Safari, I'm not getting good results from Chrome or Firefox.

As I'm developing a big project, I put together a small hacky
piece of code to ask for some help.

So… why is Chrome failing do load the resources,
and why is Firefox not playing the tracks…

Chrome console returns
Failed to load resource http://diogotudela.ogg/

This is due to the absolute path you pass in PlayerJS.pde:

player = minim.loadFile("http://diogotudela.com/o-dev/db/notIE/data/"+filename);

In fact the problem comes from a function in minim.js:

    if (canPlayOgg()) {
      audio.src = str.split(".")[0] + ".ogg";
    } else if (canPlayMp3()) {
      audio.src = str;
    }

Unlike Safari, Chrome can play ogg files: so the source absolute adress is splitted and returns:

str.split(".")[0] = " h ttp://diogotudela" and then adds ".ogg";

You can then get rid of your problem with one of those 3 solutions:

- pass relative path of audio files

- comment this if(){...}else if(){...} part and only add audio.src = str; (if you use only mp3)

- rewrite this part: audio.src = str.split(".")[0] + ".ogg"; so that it works both with relative and absolue path and then share it (that would be the best)

      splitPath[splitPath.length-1] = ".ogg";

      audio.src =  splitPath.join('');

    } else if (canPlayMp3()) {
      audio.src = str;
    }

This should do but as minim.js is done it is important to remind that you should have both mp3 and ogg versions of your audio files.

Thank you!

The string split was breaking the path!

It is now taken care of.

Actually, I do have ogg and mp3 files,

but processing is the one that handles

both options.

Will post final version!

What do you mean by "processing is the one that handles both options"? do you mean this part:

if (myBrowser=="Safari")filename = filename+".mp3";
if (myBrowser!="Safari")filename = filename+".ogg";

along with the BrowserDetect function?

if so and if you use it only to check what type of audio file is needed, then you should modify minim.js according to my previous comment and pass mp3's url, minim.js will automatically choose ogg when supported.
