I've been looking for an invert.matrix function but not found any. Am I blind .. or, what would be the most straightforward library to use?

You... inverted the syntax. That's PMatrix.invert(), actually.
Or more precisely, PMatrix2D.invert() or PMatrix3D.invert(). Of course, these are not static methods, so you replace PMatrix nD with an object of this type.

Hi PhiLho, thanks;

Doesn't the P in PMatrix3D indicate that it's a Processing class? Anyway, it's nowhere to be found in neither of the 1.5 or 2.0 references. I've been looking for a Matrix class at

http://www.opengl.org/

But it doesn't seem to help me.

I seem to get lost in what the Java 'references' conserns. A lot of things are prepended 'Java'
