make processing software run in background....?

i am making a mouse with arduino,such that it would control the mouse cursor with potentiometers,using processing. i have completed the arduino and mouse control part,but i want the processing app to run in background, so that it is invisible to the user.how do i do it?also, can i make an equivalent with visual basic,or c++?if yes,how do i control the cursor,and what about the input?thanks in advance!!

PApplet, the base for all Processing applications, itself extends a form of a Window Object. There is no easy way to hide it. Consider using a more low level language.

Running an app in background in generic terms means not showing the user any interface window,etc. Why don't you keep the app minimized or make the window invisible by using this.frame.setVisible(false)? You can have a button connected to the Arduino which controls whether the window is visible or not.

But if you want to try it in other powerful languages like VC++, C# or VB, you can use this MouseKeyboard .NET library. I'd created a VB.NET application using this library and had controlled keyboard and mouse using a TV (IR based) Remote. ( youtube video). You can create a system tray like app using these languages.

how do i do this?please help as i am not much familiar with java.also,after the arduino project,i am planning to make it into an HID,like a mouse,so that i can just plug it and play.would you please help me with coding?.i am new to all this programming.

You can minimize the Processing output window by the following:

Add this at the start of you code:

import javax.swing.*;

And then add this function to your program:

void keyPressed(){
if(key== 'm' || key=='M'){
this.frame.setExtendedState(JFrame.ICONIFIED); // Minimize window
}
}

All Processing programs are PApplets which are embedded inside a JFrame window and displayed when it is run. this.frame.setExtendedState(JFrame.ICONIFIED); sets the window state to minimized.

I've no idea about converting it into HID, I guess it would require you to write driver level software which is pretty advanced stuff.
