Has anyone successfully gotten MIDI on Linux to work using either The MidiBus or proMIDI? If so what exactly have you done and what is your setup? Are you using PulseAudio? Jack? Plain ALSA?
FWIW, I am using a Debian Sid variant with ALSA (no PulseAudio or Jack). I am able to make MIDI happen both "natively" (i.e., using
aconnect,
fluidsynth, etc.) as well as with pure Java, but I'm not able to make anything happen with Processing 2. Neither library recognizes the MIDI devices that are listed by
aconnect, and the devices that are recognized (e.g., "Gervill", "Real Time Sequencer") seem to do nothing.
