Library .Jar wont load

Hi.

I have been trying to load external libraries for a while now and can't get them to work. I have put them in the libraries folder in User/Documents/Processing/Libraries, all of the .Jar's match their respective folder names. The libraries show up under 'sketches' but not 'import library'. When i try to open the .jar within the library it says Java can't open it. When i open it through 'sketches' and try to upload it says the library doesn't exist. PLEASE HEEEELLLLPPP!

I have been working on an awesome project for months and this is the only thing holding it back!!!

Try User/Documents/Processing/libraries instead.

How do you try to open it?
Which library?

Thanks for the response!

So sorry that i wasn't clear.

- I do have 'libraries' with a lowercase 'l'

- I tried going into the folder User/Processing/libraries/Tuio/library/Tuio.jar to see if there was something wrong with the file. But i guess i cant open any of the .jar files. I'm a noob at a lot of this.

-'Run'...not 'Upload'. Im using an arduino, also, and it's 'upload' on that interface.

So i guess its not the .jar file. I guess it's just that I can't load the libraries. Example: File->Sketchbook->TUIO->examples -> TuioDemo opens. But when I try to run it I get 'No library found for TUIO'. Further, TUIO doesnt show up in Sketch ->Import Library...( under 'contributed')

Did you tried a simpler library, like controlP5?
What is your OS?

Nope, same thing. I can get the sketch to open through sketchbook. Sketchbook-> controlP5-0.7.5> controlP5-> examples-> controllers-> controlP5accordion. But when I try to run the sketch 'No library found for controlP5'. Im running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro.

If I import ControlP5 library from import library-> add library in Processing 2.0a6 it runs fine. But that doesn't help my Tuio or other contributed libraries problem. I thought it might be because i'm running 2.0a6 but I had the same problem when going back to 1.5.1

I fear I can't help much, no experience of Processing or Java on Macs.
The fact the samples sketches are seen by Processing suggests you have put them in the right place. No idea why Processing doesn't recognize the jars.

Can you post some screenshots of your folder structure (CMD-SHIFT-4 on OSX), and of your Processing Sketchbook tree from the IDE ?

See mine for example..

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm sure I'm doing something really dumb but I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. I'm almost done with a month long project. This is the last snag.

sounds weird, but did you try drag and drop the jar onto your IDE ?

Yes!!! I think you did it. I had no idea you had to drag and drop the .jar. I didnt read that anywhere. I feel like an idiot lol thanks a million!!!

So crazy. Learning processing and pure data is a grind. SO much fun. but so f*ing frustrating. Thanks a lot.

For the record, by drag'n'dropping the jar on the sketch, you add it to a folder name code in the folder of your sketch. This means that if you have 10 sketches using this library, you will have 10 copies of the library. Not a major problem, but good to know. As long as you can continue your work...

I still don't understand why the dropped jar works while it doesn't work in the libraries folder.

I had this when using json - there it was in an help text
