Learner needs help with basic programming

I'm doing my first uni assignment and have gotten stuck half way through.

For the second half I need to make a red circle grow to a diameter of 255, go transparent as it grows (when mouse pressed) and when reaching 255 disappears.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, if you search a bit the forum, you can see a number of recent threads by people following (apparently) the same course, with answers... Now, you have to hope they chose better, more descriptive subject lines, because your doesn't reveal what you need in terms of programming... Also most threads ended in the General Discussion section because they don't provide even simple code as a starting point: I consider Programming Questions should be based on some code.

General advice: browse through the Processing examples (in PDE: File > Examples...), to get a feel on how Processing works. Look particularly at the Motion examples.

Howdy fellow learner. I'm also taking a class on processing. Based on your description, it sound like you need to study how to use variable a little more. Particularly when you couple some simple math to it.

again, try to learn more about...

using math with variable //not exactly what I'm looking for but you can look at the script for the math used in there

if statement

else statement

Alpha //look at the syntax portion of this page and you will see 'alpha' listed there. That is where you can control the alpha using variable and some simple math.

http://www.processing.org/reference/ is your best friend right now. I do recommend looking at other scripts as phi.lho mentioned and look over the references. Good luck!
