Processing Forum
According to this official Apple developper news release : http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#releasenotes/Java/JavaSnowLeopardUpdate3LeopardUpdate8RN/NewandNoteworthy/NewandNoteworthy.html

Java has been deprecated on Mac OSX, which means, Apple will not supply Java on coming OSX versions.

Since Processing is Java based, does this mean Processing is dead on the Mac? Unless Oracle provides a MacOSX version of Java, which in my opinion is improbable, it looks like it.

So switch to Ubuntu? Switch to a Python implementation of Processing?

Hi,

I have heard a similar message (posted on twitter by Daniel Shiffman) and I must say that I am very bothered by this news. I have started learning Processing a year ago and I am beginning to see some results coming up :) Point is I have worked on Apple’s since 1984. And I see no reason not to continue with that. So I am also very curious how this is going to end (if it is going to end). I think we should organize at-least something that the Apple users can continue their work on Mac’s. I also would like to know what our other options are. Is there a work-around? At this moment I received (via-via) a message from Golan Levin that the Java/Mac OSX thing is a problem. But the world will fix it. Well... Fine! But what can I do?

Right now, you have Java, no? I don't know if it can disappear in an update of MacOS.
The unknown factor is whether Oracle will invest resources in supporting this system.
A yes, I looked for a thread in the forums before posting, but coulnt't find it. Thanks philho.
