Have you tried to do computations in threads?

i have looked at the threading methods, but unfortunately, our code cannot be broken up into different threads as they are all interdependant on each other every moment.

Splitting a process in separate threads is a delicate science, that people have hard time to do manually, and there is no automated process to do it for you, I fear.
One way people use is to use agents, like in the fork/join algorithm: one agent is doing a little part of the chain of tasks, and send messages to the next agent to continue the work. A library like Akka helps with this, but I fear it is way beyond the simple Processing sketch...

We have nice multiprocessor computers, but they help mostly for multitask (crunch a video while I play and chat with a friend), only a couple of applications specially designed for this (like Photoshop) can leverage multiple processor power.

Never looked into it in Processing, but most visual programming environments - ie. Pure Data, Max/MSP, Touch Designer - that I've played with will launch the activity on a new Core if it is a new 'sketch' ... perhaps Java is the same ? Not sure..
