Installation on Macbook Pro OS/X 10.6.8

I'm new to Processing and have installed in my Applications folder but get the following error when I start Processing.

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0"

java.lang.NullPointerExceptionQueue-0"

at processing.app.Toolkit.isRetina(Toolkit.java:231)

at processing.app.EditorStatus.paintComponent(EditorStatus.java:187)

Java version:

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02-384, mixed mode)

Start up screen looks like this - which seems not quite right - no tool bar.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

As a matter if interest to anybody with a similar problem.

I deleted down several times and re-installed but got the same problem.

I then downloaded and installed 2.0b7 and it seems to be running fine.

Is there a problem with 2.0b8 and OS/X 10.6.8?
