I'm speccing a new permanent lighting installation, and it's been 2+ years since I've done this, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on machines/builds.

The installation is a permanent audio-reactive sketch that will have a blob detection routine and an array of preset visual modes... kind of a permanent VJ set.

I will plan to do the camera capture on a separate thread, and so am wondering ifa multi-core machine (not that I could find one without multiple cores, even if i tried at this point!) will benefit that? Not sue if Java takes advantages of separate cores...

This will be the only process running on the machine.

It's a quick process for the install, so I'm not sure that I'll really have time to test for memory leaks, etc., but am assuming that a gaming machine with 16GB DDR3 RAM and a 1GB+ NVIDIA card (likely a GTX 560) should do the trick... ???

Thoughts/comments welcome...
