Image upload and save

Hi I am new to Processing and was hoping you might help me with this prob:
I have worked out a code for image manipulation but I want the image from User Input.....do the manipulations .....and save the result at another location.
Can anyone please help?

What kind of user input do you want? A webcam? A picture from a file? Some form of drawing?

I was hoping for a picture input from hard drive(file) and output to a specified location on hard drive as well.

that sure helps with the output. thank you soo much Jesse!

but i'm still stuck at the input part.

The thing is once I create its exe file I don't know where its getting the source file from so I can change the input file and test again. :(

Assume you have a data folder in your sketch directory.

BEFORE you export it, remove the folder.

Export your sketch to exe.

Place the data folder back in the original sketch directory, and also copy it to the directory in your exe.

You want to use selectInput()

@Jesse: Thanks Jesse! Your solution worked but I still need to make it more flexible.

@PhiLho: selectInput() is surely a better solution to my prob but as soon as I get to loading pixels it shows "NullPointerException" error. Any idea why its not workin:

Here is what i did:

PImage inputImage;

void setup() {

size(800, 600);

String address = selectInput();

if (address == null) {

// If a file was not selected

println("No file selected.");

}

else {

// If a file was selected, print path to file

println(address);

inputImage = loadImage("address");

}

void draw() {

loadPixels();

inputImage.loadPixels(); ---->that's where it gets stuck!

//Pixel processing and manipulation

updatePixels();

save("OutputImage.jpg");

}

Your code doesn't even compiles as setup() has no closing braces.
But I suppose it is a simplified version for showing here, which is a good idea.

Your issue is that you have an address variable, but you load an image named "address"...
Make it: inputImage = loadImage(address); // No quotes!

I tried it earlier but it didn't wok. I don't know how but its working this time!! Thank you soo much!!
