I'm having problem opening processing

I use a macbook air os x ver 10.8.1
i downloaded processing at the website and put it in the applications folder, so it shows up nicely in launchpad
however, when i click on the application, the app does not start whatsoever!
can you please help me? i really need to use this program :(
