My name is Nicholas Lawson and I am essentially an intermediate level computer software developer. I am completely self taught and I say intermediate because I can successfully code HTML / CSS / and some JQUERY and that shit took me a while to learn but again I am self taught. I took some classes in design at UC in cincinnati and was exposed to this processing language.
I fucking love this language. It makes computer programming fun and enjoyable and interesting and impressive to my friends. Its important that I study the media and programming because I am experiencing a career change. I live with my parents and just finished college and have comprised a situation where they will support me so long as I do something valuable for my family.
What I am doing is learning computer science. I spend about four hours a day studying and about two hours a day coding and I have been doing this for about a two months now. I am making great progress and thankfully I have not had to do anything so difficult that I could not figure it out for myself.
I wrote a couple books that are available on amazon.com and since writing is not the career for me I figure computer science and programming might be.
I am already starting to develop my ideas for a thesis that I will undertake in my processing core competency and my goal is to master this language to the degree that a language can be mastered and then I will transition over into java programming and build a pseudo mastery in that language about two years from now.
My thesis project for processing is currently set at focusing on data visualization. My grandmother has demographic information for about 800 of my family members and I want to plot the migration of my family from switzerland to the united states and show where people have migrated to and to graphically interpret this on a map of some kind.
I think that this would be a spectacular thesis project for this study that I am doing and the book data visualization seems so fucking amazing to read that I am putting it off until I finish with the FUNPROGRAMMING lessons from the wiki. I have gone through about 40 of the lessons in about a week and I have not encountered anything that confuses me or puts me off yet. I am looking forward to every lesson and I have found a real passion for computer programming and I look forward to doing scripting for Blender and Music Visualizations as well. I really want to incorporate beautiful media into my studies and I look forward to interacting with you in the future because I read the forums and thought I should introduce myself.
This language is amazing. I just thought I would put that out there and let you know that I am studying it earnestly and learning from you in the hopes that I can contribute my own studies to this language in the future.
Yours,
Nicholas
ps --- CS is awesome.
