How to make sure processing doesn't open a window on screen and just runs the code in background ?

Hi ,

I want my processing code to run in background and not open the window on screen.

Basically the sketches generated are to be stored as .png images . For that I am using save() function.

However, how do i prevent the Processing output window from being displayed on screen ?

As a limitation of Processing as a graphical language, you always have to have a window open...
If it is enough, can you just minimize the window on start, like this?

frame.setExtendedState(0);

You are not the first to ask... Perhaps, if you create a Java program using Processing as a library, you can make it headless, but I am not sure: a sketch is built around a PApplet which is an Applet, something managed by Java to display stuff, and not designed to be invisible.
