How to load fonts other than vlw?

Hey guys,

I hope you can help me find the solution to my problem.

I have a bunch of otf fonts (open type font), that i want to use. I know processing accepts vlw, so mine wont work. But then, i go to tools>create fonts in order to convert them, and my otf fonts are not visible, just the ones that are in office folder and i am not sure what type they are.

is there a way to soleve this? Should i somehow convert otf to vlw? is there software for that?

Problem solved. First I had to place my otf files in library/fonts, then processing started seeing them, after which I went to tools>create font, and vlw version appeared in my sketch data folder.

createFont() can take .ttf file names. I am not sure about .otf ones, they might work. Beside, you could have temporarily installed them on your system, just to convert them.

Hi PhiLho,

The doccumentation says that .ttf and .otf fonts are both supported: http://processing.org/reference/createFont_.html

However, in 2.0b8 it seems like the font parser may be choosing the wrong class for .otf files. here's a trace I get when trying to load otf's:

It looks like the FontManager class may be incorrectly choosing the TrueTypeFont class to parse my .otf

Going to try installing the font, create an .vlw, and use loadFont instead. Just wondering if this is normal or if I'm doing something wrong.

Processing 2.0b8 on Windows8
