How to load ControlP5 ListBox from XML?

Hi,

I tried to load a ControlP5 ListBox from XML, but after pressing the shortcut for loading the ListBox disappears (seems not to be loaded). Loading works fine for other elements but not for ListBox. For testing purposes i just used the ListBox example shipped with the library.
What's wrong? A Bug? How can i make this work?

hi, ListBox is not supported with saving and loading controllers. when loading a set of controllers all existing controllers are deleted and removed by those stored inside the xml file. since listbox is not supported, it disappears when loading a setup.

With the next upcoming version saving controllers in an xml formatted representation has been removed and replace by saving and loading properties (values of controllers) only instead.

you can have a look at version 0.5.9 which you can download from here. This new save/load mechanism is demonstrated in the ControlP5properties example and described in more detail in the source code comments.

By default properties are saved in a file controlP5.properties next to your sketch .pde file. the key combination is alt+shift+s for saving and alt+shift+l for loading properties in a serialized format.

so maybe this can help you to save your listbox together with other controllers.

Hi Andreas,

thanks a lot! I've been trying around for a while, but still get some issues ...
I actually rather wanted to save a DropdownList than a ListBox.

Using getValue() on a loaded DropdownList works but while saving and loading I get errors like these

SCHWERWIEGEND: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: controlP5.DropdownList.getIstBoxItems()

and ignores items.

INFO: 2 items saved, 2 items ignored. Done saving properties.

Using ListBox instead doesn't ignore items while saving, but using getValue() after loading doesn't store the value before saving and closing the program, what i would actually need.

I quickly helped myself by adding the missing functions to DropdownList ...
