How to comunicate Processing and Arduino on Serial Port.

Hi,

i'm a new user of this Forum and i'm a new Arduino and Processing programmer.

I would like send from Processing to Arduino a value for On/Off a LED RGB.

I would send this R100, or B110 ecc ecc.

If Arduino receive the R (if ON led red) and intensity 100.

If Arduino receive the B (ON led blue) and intensity 110.

But i donìt understand it.

can we help me??

Thank you for reply. But i would sendo to arduino this type of String

R or B or G for to decide what the led i (On) and one number value for decide the intensity of led.

You thinkif i use this code found???

    myPort.write('R');
    delay(500);
    myPort.write( '10');
    delay(100);

You can send Arduino a separate line for each RGB setting with each line's values further separated by commas (i.e. "R,G,B"). To fade up the Red channel, for instance:

0,0,0

10,0,0

20,0,0

etc...

In Processing, you build each line to be sent by connecting values and commas with serial 'print' and finishing with a 'println' for the line break.

myPort.print(R);

myPort.print(",");

myPort.print(G);

myPort.print(",");

myPort.println(B);

Take another look at the tutorial listed above to see how the Arduino can separate each incoming line into an array of values.
