How do I install RXTX-2.2pre1.jar on Windows 7?

Hi, not sure if this is the correct area of the forum, but I am using a pre-built Proccessing code that gives the error message:

WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch

Jar version = RXTX-2.2pre1

native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2

I have downloaded RXTX-2.2pre2, however I have no idea where to put it, could anyone help me out?

Update - Im using a Galvanic Skin Response Reader with the code found here: http://cwwang.com/2008/04/13/gsr-reader/

The Arduino seems to be responding to my hands being on the pennys, however the processing coded graph doesnt pick anything up (stays a flat line). Im wondering if its due to the outdated jar version, or something else?

I experienced the same problem. RXTX mismatch on Windows 7 x64.

Here is how I got RXTX to work with Arduino & Processing on Windows 7 x64:

goto http://rxtx.qbang.org/wiki/index.php/Download

and download rxtx-2.1-7-bins-r2.zip from "Binary" column.

goto C:\Users\Downloads\rxtx-2.1-7-bins-r2.zip\rxtx-2.1-7-bins-r2

and copy RXTXcomm to

C:\Program Files\processing-1.5.1\java\lib\ext

goto C:\Users\Downloads\rxtx-2.1-7-bins-r2.zip\rxtx-2.1-7-bins-r2\Windows\i368-mingw32

and copy both rxtxParallel.dll and rxtxSerial.dll to

C:\Program Files\processing-1.5.1\java\bin

The result:

Stable Library

=========================================

Native lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

[0] "COM4"

This doesn't make sense to me. I'm running Windows 7 x64 but I solved it w/ a x32 patch. I don't really understand Windows so I'm just going to let it slide.

I went to http://www.cloudhopper.net/opensource/rxtx/index.html and tried to install the x64 (and the x86 because I figured wtf) but that produced another error in my Processing window, it said something like

\serial\library\rxtxSerial.dll: Can't load IA 64-bit .dll on a AMD 32-bit platform thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver

which is why I thought to try the x32.

I'm not sure if this is actually a solution, but it did result in a stable library, which is a good first step.

Hello

I originally had this issue:

WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch

Jar version = RXTX-2.2pre1

native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2

and followed the instructions above so now:

Native lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

but I still dont see anything at all when I run code to view whats coming in on the serial com5.

// change the [0] number below to match the serial

serial = new Serial(this, Serial.list()[2], 9600);

can anyone give me a little guidance here?

Looks like your setting up a Mind Flex? Maybe theres just no data coming in

I get the same error, but I'm working with mac. Do any of you know why that might be happening? Thanks!

Lovallo I hacked a mindflex once here is a great article on how to do it: http://frontiernerds.com/brain-hack

You will also probably have to download some libraries to make sense of the mindflex data.

I got the same exact error except I am still able to communicate.

WARNING: RXTX Version mismatch

Jar version = RXTX-2.2pre1

native lib Version = RXTX-2.2pre2

After connecting an old bluetooth and arduino project with my new windows 7 laptop and processing 1.5.1. However, it still is correctly communicating so I am a bit perplexed as to what the issue actually is. However the LED on the bluetooth module that would normally switch to green when connected, fails to do so now, even though it is definitely connected and communicating.

If I figure anything out I will update here.
