This is called integer division (dividing 2 intergers) and it will return the result of the division without the decimal part

converting either to a float will work  - try

1.0 / 514
1 / 514.0

If using variables then

int a = 1, b = 514;
float r;

r = ((float) a)/b;
// or
r = a / ((float)b);
