How can a PDF file be loaded in processing ?

I want to load a PDF file (which basically has a diagram) and set it as the background of my sketch.
The sketch would then have curves between certain points in this diagram.
How can this be done in Processing i.e. loading a PDF file and displaying its content as background over which stuff can be drawn ?
