Hi, thanks for your response. But how can I use this function to get the height of the line in the image.

well, i am guessing here, but you need to start at the top and work downwards, looking at the value at each pixel and seeing where it changes colours from blue(ish) to green(ish) or red(ish). and that's the simplest thing in the world to say, less easy to get a computer to do it.

i'd start with a single line and print all the red, green and blue values for each pixel and see if there's an obvious difference where the line crosses. i have a suspicion that it'll involve just the blue channel. (actually, you can see this if you copy the image and remove the red and green channels - the bottom is very dark, the top is much lighter)

Hi thanks for your help, I've got it to work with the help of my tutor, we basically had to rotate the image 90degrees clockwise then have processing scan the image from top left to right. When it hits an rgb value of (0, 0, 0) (black) it prints the pixel column that pixel was found. Which then sends it to pure data. I can send you the code and the pure data patch if your interested.
