i have this proccesing project and i need to insert a menu so the user can change the shape of the circles to triangles and squares and i can manage it... so i could use some help...

It's pretty rude to write the same question three times in different forums. Also try using a more helpful title (terrible pun):

For a sketch like this I would recommend using keys to switch between shapes. For example, 1 is circle, 2 is triangle, ect. If you really want a menu then you're going to have to make something like this:

// This is assuming a left hand top menu

// This also is only set up for one menu item

if (mouseX > 0 && mouseX < menuWidth && mouseY > 0 && mouseY < menuHeight) {

// Set the shape you want

// For example this could set circle

}

Well, I can't tell without seeing how you tried to use my code but menuWidth and menuHeight are two variables I invented (you would have to put these in your sketch and give them values). For example:

int numMenuItems = 3; // This is assuming you want 3 kinds of shapes

rect(0, i*menuHeight, menuWidth, menuHeight);

void mousePressed() { // Put this somewhere in your sketch
if (mouseX < menuWidth) {
for (int i = 0; i < numMenuItems; i++) {
if (mouseY > i*menuHeight && mouseY < (i+1)*menuHeight) {
println("Menu item "+(i+1)+" is selected");
}
}
}
}

What this does is setup some number of boxes you can click on. Put the for loop with the rect() at the end of your draw loop. The mousePressed() function also has a for loop that tests the area of each box. If the mouseX and mouseY are inside of one of your boxes it prints something saying so. Replace the print (line 20) with some code that says what shape you want to draw. You can do this by setting another variable (for example myShape) to be equal to i. Then in your draw loop draw the appropriate shape based on "myShape".

If myShape is 0 draw circles, if myShape is 1 draw rectangles, ect.

Hi There,

Welcome to the forums! asimes' suggestions are great for your use, because you are just switching between two shapes, a dropdown may be a bit overkill. but if you are looking to have dropdowns specifically, I would suggest you look into the ControlP5 lib, which provides many UI elements that you can add to your sketch then use.
