Flickering when I look at the demo

hello,

I am new to processing - just worked my way through the first 2 tutorials. I am a bit confused why when I look at the demos e.g. http://processing.org/learning/topics/penrosesnowflake.html

i see constant flickering i.e. white all over the view. (i tried to put the 3 pde files on my own website and run them using processing.js but then it didn't load at all).

I assume this is to do with needing 1.5 (which i think i downloaded today) but aren't i looking at an applet? - why would the version i downloaded matter?

ps i am on windows xp and chrome (and see the same in firefox).

Oops, I see the same, on Win7 with a decent computer and Java 1.6.0_27 on Firefox 6.
And indeed, the version you have downloaded has nothing to do with the way applets are running.

Not sure what is going on. I looked at a couple of OpenProcessing sketches, and they don't flicker, so that's not a problem with my version of Java or of plugin.

yeps i have thtat too for a while now... quite annoying when having the reference on your secondary screen...
