Depends a bit on what you are using exactly. If you are using the Audioplayer in minim you can use the shiftGain method:

1. song[0].shiftGain(-80.0, 0, 2000);
2. song[1].shiftGain(0, -80.0, 5000);

would fade song[0] in and song[1] out (both must have been started before of course).

We are using the Audioplayer in minim. And we implemented your suggestion in to the code. We found out though that the transition is kind of rough. Is there any way we can improve this?

You can of course make the duration of the fade longer by changing the time (last parameter in the method call). Also make sure that the songs are actually set to the gains that you then use in the shiftgain method, i.e. -80 and 0 respectively in this example.  Otherwise I have not had any problem with this.
