exporting dxf with layers or colours

Hi, I'm trying to make a laser cut pattern parametric.

The laser cutter program uses different colours for different cutting settings.

I'd really like to export the patterns with processing's dxf library, but I can't find a way to set the colour or layer.

Anyone know if this is possible?

I've already tried stroke and fill to no avail!

It's definitely possible to export layers, I was able to get that to work... But as far as I can tell the DXF output support is very limited. It can only export lines and supposedly triangles too, but I was trying to export polygons with holes at the time and didn't have any good triangulation code on hand so I skiped testing those out. You'll probably want to clean up whatever you do get exported also, because if you're drawing curves or even just a lot of lines, curves get segmented into hundreds of separate lines, and it does not chain them together for you and create polylines. =/

thanks for the reply.

Do you happen to have any code that makes dxfs with layers? I can't do anything that works with qcad, so it might be a problem with qcad.

Also, what do you have in mind when you say 'clean things up'? I've already noticed this problem but have no ideas how to solve it yet, without doing polylines and eliminating useless vertexes.
