Empty a Matrix Level on the Stack

If I understand matrix stacks correctly, if I have a drawing on layer 1 (using example below) , and then cover it with layer two, but then somehow erase layer 2, I should see the drawing on layer 1 again, correct? So how would I go about erasing/emptying layer 2?

Er, I think the matrix stack is purely related to co-ordinate systems not 'drawing information' like 'layers' in paint/design programs. I guess you need to create off-screen buffers (ie images) to hold your 'layers'....

not_55 is right, you seem to mix matrices and PGraphics.
In this case, the best way to "erase" layer 2 is... to omit drawing it!
You can also create a new PGraphics to reset it.
Or, perhaps (untested), background(0, 0) might erase it.

Side note: please read or re-read the Processing forum guideline... I move your topics from Programming Questions because your questions are too... generic, not about some specific code.
