Eclipse, applet and saving pdf

hello,

i'm writing here because i'm not sure where the problem is.

i have just done a simple applet that save a pdf. i wrote it in eclipse.

if i run inside eclipse everything is ok, and pdf is saved in /bin folder.

then i have exported it as an applet using proclipsing

in the end i signed the jar fil following the instructions on the wiki.

no error is displayed, no pdf is saved.

where can be the problem?

You need to display a file chooser so that the user chooses where to save the file. There is no concept of "current dir" in an applet...

ohu, i've just tried JFileChooser and it open a blank window..

i think it's an issue on ubuntu, but it's strange because i'have only the official java sun jvm installed..

EDIT:

it is a bit weird but i got it.

i was calling the filechooser on keyPressed, and it was no rendered.

if i call it on the draw().. no problem.

i think it is related with some hell in PApplet vs Swing loop drawing.

here is a simple test:

JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();
fc.showOpenDialog(null);
}
public void draw() {

public void keyPressed() {
JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();

PApplet.main(new String[] { text.Text.class.getName() });
}
}

the first dialog is rendered well, no problem.

the one in keypressed is blank.

someone with ubuntu can test it?

mayebe add this in the wiki so next users have will no problem?

some note on my system:

$ cat /etc/issue

Ubuntu 10.10

$ java -version

Classical issue with JFileChooser: you have to use noLoop() before using it, and restart the loop after, otherwise there are conflicts between Processing's thread and Swing's one.
Alternatively, you can use selectOutput().
