Hi.

I am wondering if it is possible to add conditions such as 'if' to drawn shapes such as ellipse.

For example, is there a way to say, If there is an ellipse present, then do x.

Not exactly in the sense that you wrote, but in the sense that whatever condition made the ellipse() be there would also trigger your condition.

If every frame you randomly decide to draw an ellipse() or not, you would set a flag to do so. If the flag is true, your other condition should also happen:

int counter = 0; // This is just to show individual events
void setup() {
size(200, 200);
frameRate(20);
}
void draw() {
background(0);
flag = random(1) < 0.05;
if (flag) {
ellipse(width/2, height/2, 100, 100);
println("Another event "+counter);
counter++;
}

I mean could you replace the random with a variable so that when say x = 10, an ellipse is created?

Just replace the random(1) call with that variable. You can try with the mouseX variable, for example.

got it thanks :). Do you if there is a way to write an if statement that states, for example, 'if one ellipse intercepts another ellipse, then do X?

That is called intersection or collision code. There are tutorials for testing if a circle has "hit" another circle

What do you mean by "present"? Is it some location at the screen? Like the mouse hovering over an ellipse?

You're just thinking of it the opposite way that would be normal. You (as a programmer) place the ellipse() and if you wanted something else to happen when there is an ellipse() then you also trigger the event.
