Data status: Composition II is the title of the work that is currently on view in Gallery of Fine Arts in Split, Croatia. DSCII is custom software driven animation that visualizes news published in Croatian daily newspapers, collected on newspaper web portals. News are grouped in separate categories like sports, culture & arts, politic & economy, lifestyle & health and presented on visualization as parts of landscape – trees, birds, hills, clouds and flowers. Number of this landscape elements depends on number of news published. Visualization is refreshed every 20 seconds. More info on www.mihaelgiba.com

interesting project.
Why and where did you use the combination of Flash and Processing?

Thanx!
I used Processing for searching for data over Yahoo, analyzing data and exporting it on web server in XML form. Flash is then using data from generated XML and creating landscape animation.

i see... as far as i can tell it wouldnt have been a big problem to do the visuals in processing as well.

Yeah, that is true, but for this exhibition I had older computer for presentation, and it was very slow, so I divided jobs and Processing is working on my computer at home and uploading data and other slower computer is projecting flash animation on the wall in the gallery.
