Control programs running in background

Hi,

I am fairly new to programming with processing and I wondered if it is possible to control a program running in the background. I am making a spotify remote using arduino sensors which should also work when spotify is running in the background.

Double post removed.

Perhaps this thread and the source code of this library can give some inspiration.

I suppose it's easier when programs have a CLI.
