The usual way with github is to update your clone with your proposed modification, and then submit a pull request, whether or not it will be welcome, who knows (I guess it depends on the quality of your proposal).  On a practical note make sure you "do not" include any binaries in your commits. If you are not familiar with github you could always create a gist and submit that. I would also recommend to modify the root .gitignore file to exclude anything you do not want to commit (by mistake, it is easily done, I can speak from experience).
