It seems those resources have been cleaned up and updated since the last time I checked them, which is useful. I do agree with tishan_pubudu, that in addition to those guides a more hands-on step-by-step guide would be great. Perhaps someone who has already created a tool, could write a forum post with a more detailed how-to and some tips-and-tricks.

I have a simple idea that I'd like to try and realise through a tool. But so far it's still "on the todo-list".

ToolBasic guide is also fine. It provide some insight to tool development.

I am having some interest in tool class wizard.

My advice is to pick something that floats your boat. That is, pick something that intrigues you, as often other things start to wrestle for ones attention and time. Picking the more interesting will decrease the chance that one will be sidetracked.

I see many people on the forum  learning to program in Processing using procedural code, then attempting to make the transition to OO programming by making their own classes so they can create larger projects. I think that a class creation wizard is a great idea.

Having said that, I 100% agree with jas0501 it has to be something that grabs you.

The next stage would be to visualise how the tool will be used and who will use it (the novice wants something simple to understand and the advanced user is probably using Processing in Eclipse)

Personally I suggest having a visual interface displaying the class in UML format and the ability to move back and forth from the visual inteface and the class code in the Processing IDE. You might look at BlueJ to get some ideas regarding functionality.

At some later stage this tool might be extended to create more complex systems using with multiple interacting classes.

Obviously I did not make it clear in my post but I agree the advanced user wouldn't use such a wizard. They would be much more interested in a UML graphical tool <--> program coding tool (similar to those available in Visual Studio and C#)

Only a novice user will find it interesting to fill class name, then attributes and methods in order to get the class created.

I don't think they will find it ineteresting - but they will benefit from the auto-generation of the class structure code. It would be nice to link this with some educational stuff on basic OO e.g. encapsulation, class responsibilities and autonomy ...
