Connecting with a camera

Hello everyone,

the next question:

I made a simple programm, where I use

Open CV on Mac. With face detection I want

to start my extern camera (witch is connected

via Mini-USB) when the programm see my face.

So now I've the question, how can I connect

processing with the camera? I have to install

a driver for the camera, have I? And then,

I have to use it.. or the path or..

Maybe you can help me!

Hi,
I have no experience with miniUSB, but with USB and FireWire on Mac there was never any problems. You plug in, in Processing you hit Cmd+R and everything works just fine. The easiest test is to run this code in setup function:

println( Capture.list() );

It will print all connected camera devices available in your system. Sometimes though the system uses iCam (or whatever the name of this build-in is) by default. Then you can force it to use the connected one by explicitly calling it's name in the Capture constructor:

myCapture = new Capture( this, width, height, "Camera Name", 30 );
