Citeology: Visualizing Paper Genealogy

I've recently released a Processing applet which visualizes the relationships between research publications through their use of citations.

The big win with using Processing for this project was that almost for free, I am able to generate high-res PDF files of the graphics so you can zoom in and see all of the details, or make a nice big print out.

Wow, no words... maybe, "information is beautiful" as McCandless´s book title... I´m curious... how much time did it take you to do this project?

Thanks, glad you like it. It took a couple weeks to do, mostly an hour or so at a time on my commute.

We don't have too many other projects publicly available yet, but you might like the Command Usage Arc Diagrams we did that looks at the frequency and ordering of commands issued in an application:

Mmm... I see, a quite efficient laptop commuter I´d say! ;-)
The other project is brilliant too. How is the data structure? A big bunch of texts with the life of Autocad executions or something more complex? Does it has to do with the chance of contributing with Autodesk that appears when Autocad is launched?
So many questions... :-)
