Can we change the volume of what is recorded?

Hello!
I am trying to make a program to record your voice. The problem is that my microphone records very low :(
Is there any way to make it louder? Like those effects that audio programs have to amplify the sound (even if will have less quality)
Thanks in advance

What library are you using to play sound? minim ?
there you can change the volume of your recorded sounds :
public void
setVolume
(float v)
Sets the volume to
v
. If a volume control is not available, this does nothing.
Parameters:
v
- the new value for the volume
