Well this is a bit crazy.

First, my issue was not in launching the emulator but launching the sketch. Processing already launched the emulator succesfully (without the need to launch it separately) but it didn't run the sketch on it (it said "sketch launched in emulator" but it didn't run and didn't give any error message). Also, I had to delete the virtual device every time, otherwise I would get the "device already exists" message.

So I didn't expect your trick to work, because usually I couldn't run the sketch with the emulator already running.

Anyway, I followed your instructions (except I'm on linux), and it did launch the sketch, which now does giv me an error message.

Now I don't need to delete the virtual device any more, and I don't need to start the emulator manually either: processing will start it.


Now the error message I get from the sketch (which I didn't before) is (oh sh*** I can't copy and paste it, what a shame):

"Could not load font xxxx.vlw. Make sure the font has been copied to the data folder of your sketch..."

The font IS in the data folder and when I run the sketch on a real device it works....................

So it's like the data folder is not being included when exporting to the emulator... or something
