[BUG?] controlP5 chart loading problem

Hi,

This sketch taked from controlP5 examples produces Nullpointer exception when loading chart:

import controlP5.*;
ControlP5 controlP5;
Chart myChart;

void setup() {
size(600, 400);
controlP5 = new ControlP5(this);
myChart = controlP5.addChart("Hello", 20, 20, 400, 100);
}

void draw() {
background(0);
}

void keyPressed() {
if (key=='s') {
controlP5.save();
}
if (key=='l') {
controlP5.load("controlP5.xml");
}
}

This is the output when i try to load the xml (previously saved):

Do you have a data folder in your sketch folder?

Yes.
A Data folder with controlP5 xml inside.
You can try yourself for see the error.

I'm not sure if controlP5 defaults to the data path. Try this...

controlP5.load(dataPath("controlP5.xml"));

But note that loading ControlP5 from an XML file has been removed in newer versions, have a look at controlP5's properties instead.

I get the same error with your code:

controlP5.load(dataPath("controlP5.xml"));

i have the error only when xml file have the chart controller.

there is not much you can do about the nullpointer, save to load from XML is not supported for a Chart controller. As Jeff mentioned above, the save to load from XML function has been removed with newer controlP5 versions and is replaced with properties that can be saved and loaded.

I downloaded 0.5.7 but this version dont have support for loading properties for chart.

You plan to have this feature in the near future?
