Body tracking with Kinect

in General Discussion  •  Other  •  9 months ago
Hi,
I'm a multimedia art student with absolutely no experience with Processing or programming. I was looking to do an interactive installation by tracking and manipulation people's shadow OR to create a delay in the reaction so that the shadow appears to be moving independently. I've downloaded the Kinect Processing library but I'm just starting to learn the basics (the project is supposed to be completed by June - I need to know if it's realistic for a newbie to complete a project like this).
I will be using a Kinect for tracking and I'll be working with OS X Lion.
My questions are: is it possible for it to be projected directly onto a wall or the floor? Would I have to create graphics using another program?
Any tips will be appreciated, I need every bit of information I can get.

You can try it out. I'm a bit experienced in Computer Vision but I never worked with Kinect before. I imagine it would be a bit simplier working with kinect than a regular webcam, but still it would be a real challenge to you. I don't know if you can do it, but you can try it out.  One week of work and you will be able to reply that question yourself.
you will want the book Making Things See:
